"WE ARE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES,

IN ORDER TO FORM A MORE PERFECT UNION..."

When these words were written, “We the People” was a limited notion that did not even reflect all of those living within the borders of the original thirteen colonies.  Time and turmoil over more than two centuries have helped us as a nation grow in enlightenment and expand our understanding that we are a stronger democracy when we work on behalf of and are led by a more inclusive representation of the peoples who comprise the United States of America.

Now, more than ever, we are challenged to affirm our commitment to a fully inclusive and representational democracy.  We need leadership that reflects the diverse voices of those who will take us forward into the future decades with the skills and training needed to navigate the challenges at hand those of the future.

Our nation’s demographics have changed dramatically over the past few decades - - and, will continue to do so. While, diversity can “just happen”, real inclusion takes intentional work to reshape institutions. In a nation that began with, “We the People”, we – the diverse voices who have committed ourselves to bettering our democratic institutions - ARE the people who need to be a large part of shaping our future.
